I hope you've become interested in documenting your Christmas Memories, or any of your memories. I think I mentioned earlier that #52Stories is another place to get prompts for ideas. I just arranged for a lecturer on Memoir Writing to speak at our local genealogy club. Probably a topic you'll see in the coming year, as I'll try to connect some of my writing to research techniques for finding and documenting your Irish ancestors.
So Day 16 of the Advent Calendar was Christmas at School. Here's what I wrote...
Memories of Christmas at school would have to revolve around the Christmas concerts. I remember being part of Amahl and the Night Visitors in elementary school. In high school we always had a big Christmas concert, with a pageant (this was before it was politically correct only to have a “holiday” concert). I sang in both the concert choir and a smaller madrigal group.
For my children there was the annual holiday concert which included the band, one played drums and one the clarinet, as well as the chorus. Two of the girls were also in a madrigal group, called the Tudors, and performed a Madrigal Christmas Dinner in costume each year.
There is still time to take advantage of various offers (check out the Promotions Page. If you're interested in RootsMagic 8, you can buy their Holiday Package (even if you already have RootsMagic 7) and get the upgrade to the new version free. Spoiler Alert: Version 8 will be more expensive. The special on the printed Irish Quick Reference Guides has ended, but until December 31st you can purchase the digital versions of all three Guides for $15.
Happy Hunting!
